GALLERY - Members will be able to sell their photography through the gallery. Work will hang on the gallery walls, and there will be bins for prints, and racks for note cards and other products.

Each member will be able to have one solo show a year. Members will set their own prices.

See the Q&A below for more details.

STUDIO - Members will access to the digital printing equipment.

There is an Apple Mac Pro, two large format printers, a medium format film scanner and a matt cutter. General use of the computer, scanner and matt cutter are free. Printing costs will be based on usage (see below for details).

Members will also be able to have access to the space during non-business hours.

Members will be welcome to use the space for meetings or classes.

Membership is $200 a year, plus 20% commission on sales.

Discounts will be available for students and members who work in the gallery (or provide other services, i.e. web development or marketing).

Ideally all the members would participate in some way, but will not be required to.

Certainly for the First Friday Artwalks it would be beneficial to have members there to discuss their work. Also just getting the word out will be important - either just word of mouth or distributing flyers.

The space will be available for members to use during non-business hours, so members would be welcome to hold classes or discussions there.

Members will be kept up to date on sales activity to help understand what things are selling better than others.

Will the group be open to anyone?

Membership is limited to Maine residents.

What does membership provide?

Members can sell and display their work through the gallery. Members will also be able to use the space for solo / group shows, with one show during the First Friday Art Walk as part of membership. Members will be allowed access to the printing equipment, with printing costs at a discount. Use of the scanning and matting equipment are free.

Members will be able to use the space for shooting, and other activities during non-gallery hours.

Please note that use of the space will need to be scheduled - you will not free access at any time. Additionally use of the equipment will need to be scheduled, and will be supervised until you are proficient in the workflow.

We will provide general advertising for the gallery and specific shows. We will also provide shipping services for gallery sales, and basic print sleeves and backing for sales presentation.

What are Member's responsibilities ?

Members will be responsible for their own framing, matting or however they intend to present and package their work. You will set your own prices. You will also be responsible for setting up your solo show and preparing the promotional materials (though we can help with this).

You will not be required to work in the gallery. But as noted above, a collaborative effort by members will keep costs down, and help make the whole effort a success.

Will I be able to have my own show in the gallery?

Yes, each member can have one solo show a year, and can be during a First Friday Art Walk.

Members can have additional shows for a fee.

How much will the printing cost?

Printing costs are based actual usage of ink and paper, plus a percent for maintenance. Members will pay a discount rate. You will be able to bring your own paper.

Non-members will be able to have prints done at a regular retail rate.

What will I be able to sell in the gallery?

Basically anything photo-based. So of course prints and framed work, but also cards, calendars, t-shirts - whatever you want to offer (space permitting). These do not need to be photos of Maine.

How much can I have for sale in the gallery?

Depending on the space rented, members may be limited to a certain about of product they can have out.

What will the galleries hours be?

12-6 Wed. - Sat. Members will be able to schedule use of the space most other times as well.

What are the plans for the web site?

The site will list the members, provide a sample of your work, and link to your website.

Additionally, there will be an e-commerce site that allows for members to offer their prints in an online catalog. This will be essentially an extension of the physical gallery, aimed at individual customers.

I anticipate the full web development to take up to a year.
